The most common types of chemical used to treat wood are, alkaline copper quaternary (ACQ),copper azole (CA),and the newest type, micronised copper quaternary (MCQ).

COMPOSITE
Composite materials can range from fiberglass to plastic while most are a mixture of plastic and wood fibers. Not only do composite materials last longer but require far less care. While composite may cost more upfront, the lower cost of maintenance puts it ahead in the long run. Composite materials are available in many textures and colors and never needs to be stained or sealed. Composite decking is resistant to rotting and insects and last over 30 years.
